Class 3

Welcome to Carter Class

Carter Class is a mixed class of 20 Year 3 and 4 children.

The class teacher is Mr Halmshaw and there is one classroom assistant Mr Gladwell. We aim to create a stimulating and fun learning environment giving the children the opportunity to become independent learners with a can do attitude.

The current topic is Roman Britain

Homework is topic based – click here

Routine for the day -  we start at 8:40 when the children have ‘catch up’ or ‘fix it time.’ This is an opportunity to complete work from a previous lesson or respond to marking by the teacher to consolidate learning.

The class practise times tables regularly and have a weekly test on Fridays.

Spellings need to be learnt for a weekly Friday test. Spellings come from list follow link to list

Homework is set termly and topic work handed in every two weeks. A weekly maths sheet is set. All homework should be handed in on Fridays.

Children are encouraged to read at home and record in a reading diary.

We have a celebratory collective worship on Thursday when the children’s success is shared with the whole school and parents.

We have recently been on a class visit to London to see the musical Wicked which was an opportunity for the children to see some of the sights of London from the coach as well as seeing a fabulous West End Show.

The class are also doing a mini topic through the school year based on Farming and we are very lucky that the Chapmans have made their farm available for a monthly visit.
